Lighthouse Market closing on Browns Point, will reopen within weeks

When the Browns Point Lighthouse Market closes Jan. 15 (or thereabouts), customers need not despair.

The grocery will reopen in early February with the same name and a new owner.

Mark Vanderveen, current managing partner of the Browns Point Town Center, said Tuesday, “We’re selling the store. It’s going to be closed for a couple of weeks.”

The vision he and his partners had for a full-service grocery operation “wasn’t quite what the neighborhood could support.”

The new owner, Tara Kleca, is well qualified to succeed, Vanderveen said.

“She has experience in groceries and the neighborhood,” he said.

Kleca will offer more of a “convenience store” presentation, Vanderveen said. “Her concept is right on.”

Vanderveen and his partners opened Lighthouse Market in April, 2013.
