Albertsons reopening March 19 near Puyallup
For Albertsons fans, you are about to see another store return.
The chain announced Thursday that the former Haggen store at 11012 Canyon Road E. in the Summit area of Pierce County will reopen as an Albertsons on March 19.
“We have hired all the Haggen employees who wanted to stay at the store,” according to Sara Osborne, a communications official for Safeway-Albertsons in a Thursday news release.
Earlier this year, Haggen announced layoffs at the store as part of the closure process before handing it off to Albertsons. According to court filings, Haggen was required to deliver each of the stores it sold back to Albertsons “dark.”
Meanwhile, as stores purchased from Haggen last year continue to transition into new stores, the auction of more than 30 Haggen “core” stores is scheduled for Feb. 22. That auction, in New York, includes two stores in Thurston County and three in Pierce County.
