The landscape of foreclosures and mortgage delinquencies continues to improve in the South Sound.

The real estate analytics firm CoreLogic reported this week that the foreclosure rate in the Tacoma-Lakewood area fell 0.48 percent from December 2014 to December 2015, with the previous rate, 2.15 percent, dipping to 1.67 percent.

The foreclosure rate statewide likewise fell, down 0.26 percent from 1.27 percent in December 2014 to 1.01 percent a year later.

The 90-day delinquency rate in the Tacoma-Lakewood area fell 1.54 percent over the year, down to 3.95 percent at the end of December when compared with 5.49 percent recorded in 2014.

Statewide, the 90-day delinquency rate in December fell 0.96 percent to 2.4 percent from the 3.36 percent recorded a year before.
