Tacoma tourism ambassadors ready to answer visitors’ questions
If you haven’t already seen them, you’re about to — those tourism ambassadors wearing bright blue T-shirts emblazoned with an image of Mount Rainier and offering the message “Visitor Info.”
Beginning this week and continuing through the summer tourism season, a team comprising Travel Tacoma + Pierce County staff members and volunteers will be on the streets greeting visitors and answering questions about attractions in the area.
“We have a well-equipped visitor information center at the convention center in Tacoma, but when visitors are here, we found that we’re much more likely to find them sightseeing in the sun,” said Lisa Barker, the agency’s “visitor experience manager.”
“We want to connect them with the experiences that they might not have heard of but that make sense for them,” she stated in a Travel Tacoma release.
Last year, Pierce County welcomed 5.9 million visitors.
