If you’re looking to save on closing costs when you buy a house, then consider buying in Kittitas County.

According to a survey released Monday by the financial technology firm SmartAsset, that’s where average closing costs are lowest in the state at $7,241. With a median home value of $246,000, that puts closing costs in Kittitas at 2.9 percent of home value.

In descending order, Kittitas County was followed in the state by Skamania, Island, King, Jefferson, Whatcom, Kitsap, Skagit, Wahkiakum and Walla Walla counties, with a range of closing costs between 3.0 percent and 3.3 percent of home value.

Pierce County ranked 24th in the state with average closing costs of $8,463, or 3.6 percent of the median home value of $233,800.

Thurston County followed in 25th position with average closing costs of $8,736, also 3.6 percent of the median home value at $241,300.
