Washington state COVID-19 cases now at 1,996 with 95 deaths

Washington state on Sunday was up to 1,996 confirmed coronavirus cases with 95 deaths. The total number of cases increased by 203 on Saturday with one additional death.

King County continues to be the hardest hit with 1,040 cases reported as of Sunday — a jump of 106 cases since Saturday — and 75 deaths.

Snohomish County has the second-most cases in the state with 480 cases and 10 deaths. Pierce County has 107 cases and one death.

There are 165 cases on the Washington Department of Health website that have not been assigned a county.

Since the start of the outbreak, 30,875 people have been tested, and 28,879 tests, or about 94 percent, have come back negative.

More than 329,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide. In the United States, there were more than 32,000 confirmed cases as of Sunday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Total deaths worldwide reached 14,376 on Sunday. New York surpassed Washington as the state with the most deaths since the outbreak; New York had 114 compared to Washington’s 95.
