Here’s why you’ll see two huge Air Force planes flying over Puget Sound hospitals Friday

The Air Force will salute health care workers on the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic with a flyover Friday.

A pair of C-17 Globemaster III cargo planes from the 62nd Airlift Wing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord will fly in formation as they visit over 30 hospitals between 12:30 and 2 p.m. The locations range from Elma to Whidbey Island and include the Space Needle in Seattle.

The 62nd Airlift Wing said the flyover is a morale booster to health care workers fighting the coronavirus.

Pierce County locations on the flyover include Madigan Army Medical Center, St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Tacoma General Hospital, Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma, Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup and the Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting.

Madigan Army Medical Center, JBLM: 12:30 p.m.

St. Anthony Hospital, Gig Harbor: 12:56 p.m.

Auburn Medical Center, Auburn: 1:57 p.m.

St. Francis Hospital, Federal Way: 1:58 p.m.

Tacoma General Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, Tacoma: 2 p.m.

Allenmore Hospital, Tacoma: 2:01 p.m.

Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup: 2:04 p.m.

Washington State Soldiers Home, Orting: 2:07 p.m.
