Gov. Jay Inslee held a press conference today, Wednesday, May 27, at 2:30 p.m., to give an update on the state’s COVID-19 response.

The press conference can be seen below via TVW.

Inslee’s current, “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order is set to expire on May 31.

Some counties, including King and Pierce, are not expected to move into the next stage of Inslee’s Safe Start reopening plan by June 1 under current criteria. A county must have an average of 10 new coronavirus cases or less per day per 100,000 residents for two weeks in order to move to Phase 2.

Twenty-one counties are now approved to move to Phase 2.

Eight new deaths among 116 new COVID-19 cases were reported Tuesday in Washington. Out of 312,610 people in Washington that have taken a test for the coronavirus, 6% of those tests have been positive, according to the State Department of Health.
