Washington state sees 358 new COVID-19 cases, 11 new deaths

The Washington State Department of Health on Thursday reported 358 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11 new deaths.

Pierce County on Thursday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases and one new death, with its total cases at 1,907 and 73 deaths.

Statewide totals from the illness caused by the coronavirus are at 20,764 cases and 1,106 deaths, up from 20,406 cases and 1,095 deaths on Wednesday.

The total number of people who have been hospitalized in Washington state with a confirmed case of COVID-19 stood at 3,413 on Thursday.

Washington state has conducted 343,091 coronavirus tests, with 6.1 percent coming back positive. The test numbers reflect only polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, which are given to patients while the virus is presumably still active in the body.

There have been more than 1.7 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 101,562 deaths from the virus in the United States as of Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University. More than 358,000 people have died from the disease worldwide.

King County continues to have the highest numbers in Washington, with 7,923 confirmed cases and 562 deaths, according to the state’s numbers. Snohomish County has 2,937 confirmed cases and 147 deaths.
