Here are COVID-19 cases, deaths reported Friday in Pierce County. Death toll nears 800
Pierce County reported 281 new COVID-19 cases Friday and three new deaths.
Deaths since Tuesday included:
▪ An East Pierce County woman in her 60s.
▪ A Graham man in his 30s.
▪ A Tacoma woman in her 30s.
▪ A Tacoma man in his 50s.
▪ A Frederickson man in his 40s.
▪ A Tacoma man in his 80s.
▪ A Lakewood man in his 50s.
▪ A Parkland man in his 50s.
▪ A Parkland woman in her 70s.
▪ A Parkland woman in her 80s.
▪ A Central Pierce County woman in her 50s.
▪ A Tacoma man in his 50s.
▪ An East Pierce County man in his 40s.
▪ A Gig Harbor man in his 50s.
▪ A Puyallup man in his 50s.
Three deaths were reported Monday, closing out the week with 18 deaths.
The county’s total are 84,381 cases and 794 deaths since the first confirmed coronavirus case was reported in March 2020.
Pierce County’s 14-day case rate per 100,000 was 557 for Sept. 15-28. The rate of new hospitalizations per 100,000 is at 11.6.

VACCINES
In Pierce County, 65.6 percent of the population 12 and older has initiated vaccination, and 59.4 percent is fully vaccinated, according to state Department of Health.
Among those 12 and older statewide, 77.1 percent has initiated vaccination, and 70.7 percent is fully vaccinated.

Walk-up vaccine sites run by the county and most TPCHD events now no longer require an appointment, and all TPCHD events are for first or second doses. Anyone age 12 or older is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. Those younger than 18 need parent or guardian approval.
