Here are the latest COVID-19 cases, deaths for Pierce County

Pierce County reported 198 new COVID-19 cases Monday and two new deaths.

The latest deaths included:

An East Pierce County man in his 70s.

A Graham man in his 40s.

Last week, a total of 24 deaths were reported:

A Southwest Pierce County woman in her 90s.

A Tacoma man in his 60s.

A South Pierce County woman in her 60s.

A Tacoma man in his 50s.

A University Place woman in her 70s

A Lakewood woman in her 70s.

A Central Pierce County man in his 80s.

A Puyallup woman in her 60s.

A Tacoma man in his 40s.

A Frederickson woman in her 100s.

A South Hill man in his 70s.

As of Nov. 2, 69.1 percent of COVID deaths in the county had underlying health conditions, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department dashboard.

Over the weekend, 619 cases were reported.

The county’s totals are 92,796 cases and 870 deaths since the first confirmed coronavirus case was reported in March 2020.

Pierce County’s 14-day case rate per 100,000 was 417.6 for Oct. 14-27. The rate of hospitalizations per 100,000 is at 12.4.

From February to September, 35,604 of Pierce County’s cases involved unvaccinated people, according to the state Department of Health in its latest vaccine data report issued Nov. 3.

That compares with 5,704 of cases involving those vaccinated during the same period, according to state DOH.

VACCINES

In Pierce County, 68 percent of the population 12 and older has initiated vaccination, and 62.1 percent is fully vaccinated, according to state Department of Health.

Among those 12 and older statewide, 79.1 percent has initiated vaccination, and 73.1 percent is fully vaccinated.

Walk-up vaccine sites run by the county and most TPCHD events now no longer require an appointment, and all TPCHD events are for first or second doses. Anyone age 12 or older is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. Those younger than 18 need parent or guardian approval. Locations of individual vaccine sites also can be found on the state’s vaccine finder: vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov.
