Here are the latest COVID-19 case totals for Pierce County
Pierce County reported 144 new COVID-19 cases Monday and one new death, a Spanaway man in his 60s.
Over the weekend, 448 cases were reported. Fifteen new cases were reported Thursday. No cases were reported on Friday because of holiday break.
As of Nov. 23, 67 percent of COVID deaths in the county had underlying health conditions, according to the health department’s dashboard.
The county’s totals are 96,551 cases and 924 deaths since the first confirmed coronavirus case was reported in March 2020.
Deaths reported Nov. 22-24 include:
▪ A Spanaway man in his 50s.
▪ A Tacoma man in his 70s.
▪ A Parkland woman in her 60s.
▪ A Spanaway man in his 60s.
▪ A Lake Tapps/Sumner area man in his 80s.
▪ A Lake Tapps/Sumner area man in his 70s.
▪ An East Pierce County woman in her 80s.
▪ A Puyallup man in his 40s.
▪ A Tacoma woman in her 80s.
Pierce County’s 14-day case rate per 100,000 was 322 for Nov. 2-15. The rate of hospitalizations per 100,000 is at 9.2.
From February to October, 40,557 of Pierce County’s cases involved unvaccinated people, according to the state Department of Health in its vaccine data report issued Nov. 24.
That compares with 7,904 of cases involving those vaccinated during the same period, according to state DOH.

VACCINES
In Pierce County, 69.5 percent of the population 12 and older has initiated vaccination, and 63.5 percent is fully vaccinated, according to state Department of Health.
Among those 12 and older statewide, 80.5 percent has initiated vaccination, and 74.3 percent is fully vaccinated.
Percentage of those in each age range who have received at least one dose of vaccine in Pierce County as of Nov. 13:
▪ 5-11: 8.1 percent
▪ 12-17: 55.3 percent
▪ 18-19: 67.3 percent
▪ 20-34: 63.8 percent
▪ 35-49: 71.1 percent
▪ 50-64: 73.3 percent
▪ 65-79: 79.2 percent
▪ 80 and older: 86.7 percent

Walk-up vaccine sites run by the county and most TPCHD events now no longer require an appointment, and all TPCHD events are for first or second doses. Anyone age 5 or older is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. Those younger than 18 need parent or guardian approval.
