The Puyallup Tribe announced Thursday that its drive-thru COVID-19 testing site will expand services to the public starting Dec. 15.

The site, 2024 E. 29th St., has been in operation since early October as a testing center for Tribal government employees and its entities. The site is operated under an agreement with Pierce County Department of Emergency Management, which manages the site.

“We take public safety very seriously at the Puyallup Tribe,” Tribal Council said in Thursday’s announcement. “With limited testing facilities in Eastside Tacoma, this site fills a gap and helps the broader community.”

The Tribe will continue to provide the land for the site as well as security, refuse collection and portable toilets.

No appointment is needed at the location, which offers free testing in patients’ vehicles. Results “can be expected in 3-5 business days,” according to the announcement.

The site can be entered from East 30th Street. Scheduled dates and hours can be found at puyalluptribe-nsn.gov.
