Here are the latest COVID-19 numbers confirmed Monday in Washington state

The Washington state Department of Health reported 621 new COVID-19 cases Monday.

As of Monday, the state’s preliminary death tally was 12,515 — unchanged since March 29. The confirmed death tally as of March 18 was 12,458.

“DOH is still experiencing delays in reporting cases, hospitalizations, and deaths as a result of prior slowdowns in our data systems during the Omicron surge,” the agency said on its COVID-19 website dashboard. “We are clearing these backlogged cases, hospitalizations, and deaths as resources permit.”

The state reported 551 cases Sunday and 758 cases Saturday.

The statewide case total from the illness caused by the coronavirus stood at 1,458,424 cases on Monday.

The state revises preliminary data on a daily basis until it’s considered confirmed, sometimes lagging up to a month. It releases new data to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It frequently reports problems in processing data in a timely matter.

Washington’s population is estimated at about 7.7 million, according to the latest U.S. Census figures.

Hospitalization

During March 22-28, 3.2 percent of staffed intensive care unit (ICU) beds in Washington were occupied by COVID-19 patients. Out of all staffed ICU beds, 88.2 percent were occupied in the same period. The state no longer releases more recent data.

Acute care hospitals in Washington reported a total of 245 COVID-19 patients occupying beds Sunday with eight on ventilators.

Case rates

For the past seven days, Washington has had a downward trending case rate of 48 per 100,000 people.

The national rate for the same period was 52.9 per 100,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Vaccine

According to DOH, 67.5 percent of the total state population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

On the national level, 65.6 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated, according to CDC statistics.

More than 10.9 billion doses of vaccine have been administered worldwide.

U.S. and world numbers

There have been 982,951 deaths from the coronavirus in the United States as of Monday. More than 80.1 million confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in the country, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Worldwide, more than 6.15 million people have died from the disease. Global cases exceed 491 million.

Testing

On March 25, the most recent collection date with complete data, 568 positive test results out of a total 18,316 specimens were reported.
