Here are the latest COVID-19 numbers confirmed Wednesday in Washington state

The Washington state Department of Health reported 1,138 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, the state’s preliminary death tally was 12,589, up seven from seven days prior. The confirmed death tally as of March 27 was 12,546.

The statewide case total from the illness caused by the coronavirus stood at 1,471,754 cases on Wednesday. That figure represents an increase of 4,591 cases from Friday’s report. Data was not released on Monday.

The state frequently revises preliminary data until it’s considered confirmed, sometimes lagging up to a month. It releases new data to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Washington’s population is estimated at about 7.7 million, according to the latest U.S. Census figures.

Hospitalization

During March 31-April 6, 2.5 percent of staffed intensive care unit (ICU) beds in Washington were occupied by COVID-19 patients. Out of all available staffed ICU beds, 86.2 percent were occupied in the same period. The state no longer releases more recent data.

Acute care hospitals in Washington reported a total of 235 COVID-19 patients occupying beds Tuesday with 10 on ventilators.

Case rates

For the past seven days, Washington has had a slightly rising case rate of 80.8 per 100,000 people.

The national case rate for the past seven days was 65.8 per 100,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Vaccine

According to DOH, 67.7 percent of the total state population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

On the national level, 65.7 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated, according to CDC statistics.

Worldwide, more than 11.1 billion doses of vaccine have been administered.

U.S. and world numbers

There have been 987,250 deaths from the coronavirus in the United States as of Wednesday. More than 80.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in the country, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Worldwide, more than 6.18 million people have died from the disease. Global cases exceed 501 million.

Testing data was not updated Wednesday.
