It’s an odd caper for the Odd Otter.

Someone walked off with the Tacoma brewery’s one-of-a-kind banner during the Taste of Tacoma festival at Point Defiance Park last weekend, founder John Hotchkiss says.

The brewery is offering $100 cash and a $50 brewery credit for the banner’s safe return, no questions asked.

The 3-foot-by-5-foot banner was designed by local artist Amy Constantineau for the brewery’s 2015 trip to the Great American Beer Festival. It features an otter in a seascape, with a treasure chest full of bottles.

“It’s completely irreplaceable,” Hotchkiss says. “It is original art. We do not have a copy.”

Constantineau is also the artist behind the brewery’s series of famous paintings where the subjects have been replaced with otters.

Odd Otter staff noticed the banner was gone when they opened their tent Sunday morning.

“It’s pretty disappointing that Tacomans would do that to Tacomans,” Hotchkiss says, “because we’re better than that.”
