Pacific Lutheran University’s football team canceled Saturday’s home opener because of the impact Hurricane Irma had on its opponent, Warner University of Central Florida.

Warner, located about 50 miles south of Orlando, is dealing with the aftermath of the storm and has canceled class for the week. Warner’s Sept. 9 game at Kentucky’s Campbellsville University was also canceled because of the storm.

The games was scheduled to take place at Puyallup’s Sparks Stadium. PLU’s next game is scheduled for Sept. 30 against the University of Puget Sound.
