1 killed, 1 critically hurt after wrong-way crash on SR 512

A woman was killed and a man was critically injured overnight after a wrong-way crash on state Route 512 in the Summit area, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened about 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning in the eastbound lanes of SR 512 at the Canyon Road exit, State Patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova said.

The 29-year-old woman was westbound in the eastbound lanes when she struck another vehicle head-on, Bova said. The woman, a resident of Roseburg, Oregon, died at the scene.

The 24-year-old Puyallup man driving the other vehicle suffered spinal injuries and facial lacerations and had to be extricated from his vehicle, Bova said. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

The road was closed for more than four hours as troopers investigated the wreck.
