2 killed in motorcycle wreck, Pierce deputies say

Two people were killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle wreck in Midland, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy attempted to pull over the speeding motorcycle about 3 p.m. on southbound Golden Given Road East near 72nd Street East, according to Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer. The motorcycle sped off, and the deputy chose not to pursue it.

The motorcycle ran through the stop sign at 85th Street East, hitting two vehicles, Troyer said. Both riders of the motorcycle, Midland men ages 47 and 48, were thrown from it and died at the scene.
