Semi truck struck fire hydrant, closing Puyallup street for hours

Puyallup Police Department

A semi truck hit a fire hydrant on a Puyallup street Tuesday morning, causing a leak that forced officials to close the street for several hours.

The driver cut a corner short on 5th Avenue Northeast about 9:40 a.m. and hit the hydrant.

“Don’t be alarmed by the river running down” the street, police said.

5th Avenue NE was closed from 5th Street NE to 4th Street NE while crews worked to stop the leak.

The driver was not injured in the crash.
