Man fatally struck by train near Sumner has been identified
A man fatally struck by a train north of Sumner Wednesday has been identified as a 55-year-old Bonney Lake man.
Officials said the man appeared to step in front of the train just after 6 a.m.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has not ruled whether the death was a suicide or accident. The News Tribune generally does not publish the names of people who end their own lives.
After the pedestrian was hit, several Sounder South trains were delayed for hours.
Those on the involved train were picked up by buses and taken to Seattle.
