Drivers, take note: North Tacoma Avenue intersection will close for three weeks
The intersection of North Tacoma Avenue and North 1st Street in Stadium District will close for three weeks for construction.
Starting Wednesday (Jan. 22), Sound Transit will close the intersection to install two sets of tracks as part of the Hilltop Tacoma Link project.
Drivers can take North 2nd Avenue, Yakima Avenue and Division Avenue as detour routes.
Parking at the intersection will be closed during construction. Sidewalks and businesses will be open.
“Closing the intersection reduces the space needed for construction, keeps more parking open for local businesses and enables crews to complete the work in a shorter amount of time,” Sound Transit stated in a press release.
Residents can expect construction noise as crews work Sunday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
