Adult, 2 children go to trauma center after SUVs collide and go down a South Hill slope

Two children and an adult were seriously injured Thursday when their SUV collided with another in South Hill.

One SUV T-boned the other at the intersection of 128th Street East and 62nd Avenue East, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesman Capt. Darrin Shaw.

Both SUVs went down a slope near the intersection with one of them coming to rest on its top, Shaw said.

The three victims all needed extrication from the vehicle, he said. They were transported to a local trauma center, Shaw said.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the collision

128th Street East remained closed at 62nd Avenue East in both directions for some time during the rescue and investigation.
