The News Tribune moves to Digital Saturdays on Jan. 25
Three months ago, we announced The News Tribune will stop the delivery of a printed Saturday newspaper on Jan. 25.
With that day being a little less than a week away, I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you a little more about the change we call “Digital Saturday” and how the Friday and Sunday print editions will be affected.
Beginning this week, we will no longer print and deliver copies of the Saturday paper. Instead, the Saturday “paper” will be available through our electronic edition, which replicates the experience of a printed newspaper on your computer, tablet or phone. Beyond that, we will continue to publish local news to thenewstribune.com and our social media platforms.
The reason for doing this is simple: Reading habits are changing. More and more customers engage with our local journalism online instead of in the printed form. It is a trend here in the South Sound and in every community in the country.
We are changing with the times and asking you to join us.
If you are a print subscriber and have not done so already, please activate your digital account. Activation will give you access to all of our digital content, including electronic editions for every day of the week. Each electronic edition of The News Tribune is supplemented with dozens of pages of additional content. The “Extra Extra” contains national, world, business, political and entertainment news. “Sports Extra” and “Sports Stats” deliver expanded sports coverage and results. “Money and Markets” provides data on the financial markets.
In addition, activation will allow you to sign up for digital newsletters and breaking news alerts.
Digital Saturday also brings some enhancements to our Friday and Sunday print products.
Coming to Fridays:
▪ A new themed section called “Uplift” that will include a new page of puzzles.
▪ Television listings for both Friday and Saturday.
Coming to Sundays:
▪ Two pages of local opinion, including the “Cartoonists’ Sketchpad” and “The Five Spot.”
▪ Comics and puzzles from Saturday printed along with the Sunday comics.
What doesn’t change in all of this is our newsroom’s commitment to bringing you local journalism that makes a difference.
If you have questions, comments or concerns related to the new delivery method, please give us a call at 800-289-8711 or email us at customerservice@thenewstribune.com. We will do everything possible to ensure your satisfaction.
Thank you for your continued support.
