Pedestrian hit, killed by Amtrak train in Puyallup

A pedestrian was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Puyallup Sunday night, police said.

Investigators said the man may have been sitting on the tracks when a northbound passenger train struck him in the 600 block of East Pioneer Avenue about 8:45 p.m.

The train’s crew called 911 and reported hitting something on the tracks.

Officers found the man’s body nearby.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has not been identified.

No one on the train was injured.
