Janet Jackson bringing ‘Rhythm Nation’ to Tacoma with summer tour
Janet Jackson is bringing Rhythm Nation to Tacoma this summer.
The pop icon on Monday announced her Black Diamond World Tour, which includes an Aug. 23 stop at the Tacoma Dome.
Tickets go on sale Thursday at ticketmaster.com or the Heritage Bank Box Office at the Dome.
Jackson will sing songs from her new album, “Black Diamond,” to be released later this year.
“Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut,” Jackson, 53, wrote on Instagram. “I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy. There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength.”
She will also perform music from her 12 multi-platinum albums during the tour, including a special performance of “Rhythm Nation 1814,” a best-selling album that marks its 30th anniversary this year.
The singer is considered one of the best-selling artists of all time and has reportedly sold more than 185 million records worldwide.
Jackson has won five Grammys and a Golden Globe award, and has been nominated twice for Emmys and once for an Oscar.
The Black Diamond tour kicks off June 24 in Miami and wraps up in Tacoma.
