Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train in Puyallup has been identified

A pedestrian fatally struck by an Amtrak train in Puyallup has been identified as Keith Clay.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the 65-year-old man’s death an accident.

Police say Clay was hit by a northbound passenger train in the 600 block of East Pioneer Avenue about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

The train’s crew knew they’d hit something but didn’t see what, so they called 911.

Officers found Clay’s body near the tracks.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
