One person killed in Tacoma house fire

A person died in a house fire in Tacoma late Thursday, the fire department reported.

The department described the victim as an adult but provided no other information about the person’s identity.

The fire broke out about 11 p.m. in a home in the 9400 block of East E Street. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the house. They knocked down the flames about 11:23 p.m., according to the department’s Twitter account.

The department tweeted an update at 2:42 p.m. Friday:

“We are said to confirm that there was one fatality from this incident. The adult victim was discovered by firefighters as they searched the residence, and investigators are continuing to work on determining a potential cause of the fire.”
