Green River College cancels classes, switches to alternative formats for coronavirus
March 10: Story has been updated
Green River College is the latest college to alter activities amid the state’s coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement Monday, the college said day and evening classes for Monday, March 9, were canceled “as we prepare to move courses to alternative formats starting Tuesday (March 10).
“The remainder of winter quarter classes will be completed in a manner that reduces face-to-face meetings. All GRC offices will remain open during this time to provide key services to our community.”
GRC’s main campus is in Auburn.
In a statement on its website, the college noted that as of Monday, “No members of the GRC community have been diagnosed with COVID-19.”
The college in an online update noted on Friday that classes would continue for the remainder of the quarter “and every effort will be made for you to finish winter quarter classes. Your instructors will contact you regarding plans for your classes. Please contact your instructor with any course related questions, or concerns about having access to appropriate technology.”
On Tuesday, March 10, the college posted a new notice on its website: “All GRC locations are OPEN. Classes are meeting - some face to face and some through alternate formats such as zoom, online, and small group meetings. Students: Please check your GRC email and Canvas to find out how your instructors have planned for your courses to be completed for the Winter 2020 term.”
