Here are events canceled at Tacoma Dome, other venues in response to Inslee’s ban of large gatherings

Venues across Tacoma are postponing events after Gov. Jay Inslee announced Wednesday morning a mandate banning public gatherings of more than 250 people in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties.

The mandate is an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.

Here are events canceled in the Tacoma area:

The Tacoma Dome has postponed all March events, according to Tacoma Dome spokesperson Tammi Bryant.

“(We will) provide an update on new dates for these events as quickly as possible,” according to the Tacoma Dome. “Tickets will be honored for the new dates. Purchasers unable to attend rescheduled dates should contact their point of purchase.”

“The Tacoma Rainiers will continue to work with regional government agencies and health authorities to ensure the safety of all fans, players and Cheney Stadium staff until public games can resume,” the baseball team shared Wednesday.

The Tacoma Defiance has a game scheduled Wednesday against San Diego Loyal SC.

That game will be played “behind closed doors, which will meet the mandated criteria of no public events with attendance greater than 250 people,” said Tacoma Defiance. Fans will be able to watch the game on ESPN+.

Tacoma Defiance’s home match on Sunday, March 22 versus Oklahoma City is set to be rescheduled.

Rainiers and Defiance ticket buyers will not be charged for any game that is not played at Cheney Stadium, nor will they be charged for any games that are closed to the public.

The teams will offer opportunities to exchange tickets for future matches and refunds for those who do not want to exchange for a future match.

The Tacoma Rainiers are scheduled to begin their 26th season, and the 61st season of professional baseball at Cheney Stadium, on Thursday, April 9.

“Our hope is to play our entire Rainiers home season as scheduled and we are excited to open the gates to Cheney Stadium without health concerns as soon as possible,” Tacoma Rainiers President Aaron Artman said in a press release.
