Trooper chases stolen vehicle onto JBLM; Search on for suspect

A Washington State Patrol trooper pursued a stolen vehicle through Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s North gate Thursday evening. After a collision, suspect fled on foot, the State Patrol said.

The chase began about 5:30 p.m. on Interstate 5 in the southbound lanes close to the North gate. After driving onto the base, the stolen car struck a ditch, according to State Patrol spokesman Ryan Burke.

The suspect, described as a male wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, was last seen on the base, Burke said.

The State Patrol is asking the public to avoid the area.
