The Washington State Fair’s annual Spring Fair has been canceled over COVID-19 concerns

The Washington State Fair has canceled Spring Fair, an annual four-day festival that brings tens of thousands to Puyallup.

The event, scheduled April 16-19, was to include animals, a demolition derby, a monster truck show and vendors and food trucks. The State Fair said that during the coronavirus outbreak the safety of guests and employees was a top priority.

Average Spring Fair attendance is 130,000.

“Our mission statement says we are ‘Washington’s home to gather and celebrate for generations to come.’ Our commitment is to remain that home. At this time, we are doing our part to keep our staff and community as healthy as possible,” Washington State Fair spokesperson Stacy Van Horne said in a statement.

People who have purchased tickets will be refunded. If the credit card that tickets were purchased with has been canceled, contact the Box Office at boxoffice@thefair.com for a refund.

The State Fair had previously canceled all events in March.
