Sea-Tac Airport TSA employee tests positive for coronavirus

A TSA officer at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has tested positive for the coronavirus, the Port of Seattle announced Tuesday.

The officer last worked the morning of March 21 at checkpoint 5. That checkpoint was closed Tuesday for cleaning.

Transportation Security Authority officers across the nation have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.

TSA is following public health guidelines and notifying employees who were in close contact with the infected officer, the Port said.

The Port urged any concerned passengers who may have come in contact with the officer to consult their health care provider.

Some screening procedures require officers to touch passengers. As policy, TSA requires its frontline personnel to wear nitrile gloves when screening passengers or their property.

The Port said TSA has authorized its personnel to wear surgical masks if they choose to do so.
