1 dead, 1 injured in crash near Purdy

A Gig Harbor man died early Saturday morning after his car left the roadway near Purdy, according to Washington State Patrol.

The man, 39, was driving eastbound on State Route 302 at about 5:05 a.m. when the car veered to the right, struck the guardrail and rotated off the roadway, hitting several trees.

State Patrol’s report says the driver’s speed was too fast for the road conditions.

The only passenger in the vehicle, a 38-year-old Bremerton man, was injured, but was not transported to a local hospital.
