Tacoma woman killed in wrong-way crash on state Route 167

A Tacoma woman was killed early Friday after her wrong-way vehicle collided with another on state Route 167 in Auburn, the Washington State Patrol said.

The 33-year-old woman was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla southbound in the northbound HOV lane of SR 167 when it was struck head-on by a 2016 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 62-year-old Renton man.

The wreck occurred near 37th Street NW shortly after 1 a.m.

The woman died at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital.

The State Patrol said the man was wearing a seat belt. The woman was not.

The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of family members.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
