Motorcyclist who died after crash on SR 16 has been identified

A man who died following a motorcycle crash on Saturday has been identified, according to the Washington State Patrol and Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He was identified as Eric A. Griswold, 55, of Lakewood.

Griswold and his 45-year-old female passenger were headed east on state Route 16 just before 3 p.m. Saturday. Troopers say he lost control of the motorcycle in the area of Burnham Drive near Gig Harbor, and both he and his passenger were ejected as a result.

Griswold was taken to an area hospital where he later died. The woman was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

The crash is under investigation, according to the State Patrol.
