A section of roof collapsed at a Safeway store in Auburn

Part of the roof of a Safeway store in Auburn collapsed Thursday morning.

Valley Regional firefighters were called to the store at 101 Auburn Way S. just after 8 a.m. and found a collapsed section of roof about 10-by-50-feet.

Crews searched the store but did not find anybody trapped or injured.

It was not immediately clear why the roof collapsed.

Electricity, water and gas services to the business were affected. Puget Sound Energy was on scene.

Police set up a perimeter around the store.
