Man drowns on White River in Auburn after boat overturns

A 65-year-old man drowned Thursday after his boat overturned on the White River in Auburn.

Rescuers were called about 5:30 p.m. to the 3400 block of Stuck River Drive after a 14-foot boat carrying two men flipped over.

A man in his 40s was able to swim to shore. The older man was nowhere to be seen.

Swift-water crews, divers and a helicopter were called out to the search but did not find him.

The search was called off Thursday night, and the man’s body was found Friday morning.

He has not been publicly identified.

Authorities said there were no life jackets on the boat.
