Tacoma implements 9:30 p.m. curfew for Tuesday. Move comes amid protests, some looting

The city of Tacoma announced a 9:30 p.m. curfew for Tuesday night as protests continue across the city against the killing of George Floyd and other people of color at the hands of police.

The curfew will be in place through 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Tacoma City Council implemented the curfew at its meeting Tuesday evening.

The announcement follows peaceful protests by hundreds on Saturday and Monday.

Some businesses along Pacific Avenue downtown were damaged or looted early Tuesday morning by a small group of people after Monday’s peaceful march ended.
