Update: Pierce County Superior Court to remain open Thursday

Update: “Based on updated information, the court will remain open all day on June 4th. There will be limited staff and judicial officers on-site,” court officials said in an updated press release Thursday morning.

Initial post: Pierce County Superior Court will close its doors at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Tacoma, in response to planned protests in the area, court officials said in a press release Thursday.

“In response to planned protests and other gatherings in and around the County-City building campus, Pierce County Superior Court will close its doors at 10:30 a.m. on June 4, 2020,” the release said.

Remote hearings will happen as schedule, and criminal arraignments for the rest of the day will be broadcast online.

Emergency domestic violence protection order petitions won’t be accepted for the rest of the day.

Anyone who can’t make a scheduled court time needs to contact the court.
