Two teenagers killed in high-speed crash near Waller, deputies say

Two teenagers were killed in a car crash Thursday in the Waller area.

According to a post on the Pierce County Sheriff Department’s Facebook page, the victims’ car was seen twice by deputies before the crash, once on 95th Street in Tacoma and once on Golden Given Road. The car was traveling over 100 miles per hour in both instances and had its lights turned off when it was seen on Golden Given Road, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were unable to follow the car because it was moving so quickly, and a traffic stop was not performed.

The Facebook post also states that about 2:45 a.m., the car, a 1994 Honda Civic, was traveling eastbound on 72nd Street East. Upon reaching a curve, the car, which was going very fast, slid across the shoulder and hit an embankment. After rolling through 72nd Street Court East, the car hit a tree.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff Department’s Facebook page, the male driver and female passenger, both 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.
