Concertgoers get ready! You’ll be able to watch six acts in July — from your car.

The Washington State Fair will host its first-ever Drive-In Summer Concert Series from July 16-19 in Puyallup.

The series is set to feature live concerts from six country music acts.

“I think what we’re trying to do this summer is find some unique ways to provide some entertainment for our guests in this unique time,” said Stacy Van Horne, public relations manager for the Washington State Fair. “Country Music has always done really well at the fair, so we paired it together, the drive-in, sitting in your car and watching them on stage, and it should be a great time.”

People are encouraged to purchase tickets online starting June 30. Only e-tickets are available and must be printed in advance.

Tickets are purchased based on a carload of four people, with the ability to add-on up to four additional people per car, according to the description of the event on the fair’s website.

For general admission vehicles, parking will be available on a first-come basis. Reserved premium parking is also available for vehicles 17 feet or less in length.

Oversized vehicles, 18 to 20 long, will be parked only in designated areas within general admission sections.

All vehicles must be parked 30 minutes prior to showtime.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase concessions.

Guests must remain in their vehicles at all times except to visit the restroom or concession areas. Guests outside their vehicles should wear a cloth face covering.

The Washington State Fair and its guests must comply with Gov. Jay Inslee’s Safe Start Reopening Plan, as it related to drive-in entertainment. Guests are asked to adhere to CDC-approved safety measures as well.

There will be 10 feet between each vehicle in each row for social distancing.

Hand sanitizers will be available and/or access to nearby hand-washing stations in customer areas. All staff and vendors will also be wearing masks and touch points will be frequently cleaned.

The concert will take place at the Fair’s Green Parking Lot. Van Horne said the lot can hold up to 600 cars with social distancing.

Acts will be announced starting June 23.

“We’re just excited to be having some summer events for people. We’re usually so busy in the summer planning the state fair but we know people have been cooped up and are looking for some immediate entertainment so we’re glad we’re able to provide that,” said Van Horne.
