Fire crews respond to blaze at Karshner Elementary in Puyallup
A fire has been reported at Karshner Elementary School in Puyallup, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.
Crews responded to 1328 Eighth Ave NW about noon Sunday.
Crews at the scene are describing it as a two-alarm commercial fire, according to the department’s social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
Because of heavy smoke in the area, residents are being asked to stay indoors. Streets also have been closed.
Puyallup Police say that 15th Street Northwest, Eighth Avenue Northwest and several smaller side streets are all closed at this time for the fire at Karshner.
East Pierce Fire and Graham fire crews also have responded to the blaze.
