Looking for a face mask? Here are some places in the Tacoma area to get them

With Gov. Jay Inslee making facial coverings mandatory in public and an order that started July 7 banning businesses from serving customers without masks to combat COVID-19, you might be looking for some place to stock up on face masks.

Here are 8 Pierce County small businesses that have added masks to their store’s usual stock as the coronavirus continues to circulate.

Simply Elegant Boutique and Creations

Local seamstress Aliec Carter-Standley has been making face masks in designs that range from having sequins to mermaid designed. She sells them online and in person from her store at 1210 S. Proctor St.

Blue Moon Tea is moving beyond tea

Local tea shop Blue Moon Fine Teas is selling six-packs of fabric face masks in different colors and designs. You can buy them online and pick them up at its downtown Tacoma store at 2512 S. Holgate St.

Tacoma Artco Crafts and Framing

Tacoma’s local arts and craft store is also selling fabric face masks. Located at 5401 6th Avenue #401, it sells both washable and disposable ones.

Ben Franklin Crafts and Frame Shop

In Bonney Lake, you’ll find face masks and face shields at this family-owned crafts shop on 21121 state Route 410 East. It also has face shields in stock, for those seeking maximum protection.

A Rhinestone Store sell face coverings

Local Spanaway couple Jean Milano and Kaye Munro have sold rhinestones for dance and performance costumes for 25-plus years. They’ve recently added fabric face masks to their inventory — including ones with flowery patterns and Seattle Seahawks designs, which you can buy online.

Tacoma-based Etsy sellers

Some individuals from Tacoma are selling homemade masks on the craft site Etsy. You can support local seamstresses like Ellie Arellano, who also sews toddler apparel, The Oh Ana Shop, who also sews dresses, and GEK boutique.

Shibori Dragon Fabric Store

While it doesn’t sell fully made masks, you can buy the fabric and face mask sewing designs online or from its store at 7025 27th St. W.

Pierce County CARES — if you’re part of a business

Pierce County is giving personal protective equipment to all local businesses that request it. Fill out the request form and you can receive disposable surgical masks and no-touch thermometers for free—they still have supplies left.
