A man was shot while in the parking lot of a Puyallup motel Friday evening, Puyallup police said. The suspects fled the scene, but police said there was no immediate danger in the vicinity.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Meridian Street at 5:23 p.m., according to Puyallup police Capt. Jason Visnaw.

The 21-year-old victim had been shot twice in the torso, Visnaw said. The victim’s wounds were described as life-threatening.

The motel is located one block from Good Samaritan Hospital.

“Officers took him to the emergency room because it was so close,” Visnaw said.

The victim, a Pierce County resident, was staying at the motel with his girlfriend, Visnaw said.

There were no immediate descriptions of the suspects.

“We believe we have two to three suspects outstanding that fled the area in a sedan,” Visnaw said.
