Fife food bank thought it had suffered crushing loss. Sharp-eyed officer saves the day
A food bank in Fife, Lighthouse Storehouse, has been providing fresh vegetables, meats, dairy and other food to families throughout the pandemic. It almost lost its ability to transport the goods.
A food bank truck was stolen Wednesday night. It was recovered Friday morning by Fife police.
“Thank you all for looking out for us,” Lighthouse Storehouse director Pastor Ken Banks said on Facebook Live on Friday. “Thank God for Officer Goff for coming out to make a report and spotting the truck”
The Fife Police Department took a report on the stolen truck on Thursday. On Friday morning, an officer spotted it in a warehouse parking lot, according to KING 5 News.
Banks said on the Facebook Live there was a little damage to the truck but that it is fine overall. He expressed joy that he would be able to continue the organization’s mission of feeding vulnerable families from Fife to Seattle.
“We’re just thankful for everything that has been done to get this truck back so soon,” he said, while thanking his “Facebook friends and family.” Banks had asked his Facebook followers to look out for the truck.
The truck is Lighthouse Storehouse’s sole means of distributing thousands of meals.
According to a statement from Fife Police Department Officer D. Goff, there are no suspects at this time.
