Man who drowned in Alder Lake has been identified
A 21-year-old man who drowned in Alder Lake Monday after suffering a panic attack in the water has been identified.
Chance Heihn of Lakewood was swimming with a friend at Sunny Beach Point when he began to struggle about 4:30 p.m. about 40 feet from shore.
Bystanders called 911 to report a swimmer in distress, and firefighters snorkeled to the area where he was last seen.
Heihn was found several feet beneath the water and rushed to an area hospital, where he died Monday night.
Alder Lake is located between Eatonville and Elbe in Pierce County.
