Fatal motorcycle crash blocks lanes on SR 7 in Spanaway; investigation underway
The Washington State Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on State Route 7 at 8th Avenue East in Spanaway on Friday afternoon.
The collision involved a motorcycle and car, according to the Washington State Patrol on Twitter. The motorcycle rider struck the side of a van attempting to turn left into a parking lot. The motorcycle was traveling northbound and the van was traveling southbound on SR 7.
The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the van did not sustain any injuries, according to state patrol. There were no other occupants or vehicles involved.
All northbound lanes of SR 7 are blocked. Drivers are asked to avoid the area or use alternate routes.
