This long Labor Day weekend the state health department has some easy-to-remember tips to keep those wanting to party safe and help people adhere to proper social distancing methods.

  • Outside is safer than inside.

  • Small groups are safer than larger groups.

  • Less time together is better than more.

  • Maintain 6 feet of distance from others and wear face coverings.

The Washington Department of Health suggests Zoom happy hours, if you haven’t had you’re fill in the last few months.

Here’s some other ways to make sure you’re partying in the final days of summer in the safest way possible.

If you’re sick, don’t go

If you feel even the slightest sickness or feel like you’re under the weather in any way, stay home. If your symptoms continue to mirror those related to COVID-19, contact a healthcare provider or local health department.

Keep things distant while you have fun

Arrange the chairs so they are at least 6 feet apart. Consider outdoor games and activities for kids that don’t involve wrestling or blowing bubbles into each other’s faces. The Health Department suggests things like jumping rope, playing catch, doing a bean bag toss, or using sidewalk chalk.

Potlucks? Use some precautions

Potlucks and communal gatherings are fine with the following precautions:

  • Have everybody use their own cups and utensils.

  • Use utensils to grab chips and other similar snacks.

  • Make it easy for people to wash their hands frequently.
