Lisa H. Mansfield has been appointed as the new Lakewood Municipal Court judge.

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Lakewood Municipal Court Judge Susan Adams to the Pierce County Superior Court bench in May.

Mansfield is a Judge pro tempore in Thurston County District Court and previously worked at the Department of Assigned Counsel in Tacoma — where she spent time in the dependency unit, felony unit and misdemeanor division. She’s also worked at private firms.

DuPont’s mayor is scheduled to swear in Mansfield at the City Council meeting Sept. 22.

The court also serves University Place, Steilacoom and DuPont.

“After being on the interview panel for the Municipal Court judge and listening to Ms. Mansfield’s answers to various questions, it became clear she was the most qualified individual,” DuPont city administrator Andy Takata said in a press release. “We are very fortunate to have such an intelligent, qualified person on our bench. It’s an honor for the City of DuPont.”

Mansfield is president of the Pierce County Minority Bar Association, Vice President of Community Outreach on the Washington Women Lawyers Board of Directors and a member of the University of Washington Tacoma Legal Pathways Advisory Board.
